Batam — PaxOcean has successfully launched Hull NP8009, a 3,500LT DWT Product Oil Tanker on 21 June 2016 in the PaxOcean Pertama yard at Tanjung Uncang, Batam. Owners, charterers and other guests arrived from Jakarta to attend the event including Mr Subagjo H. Moeljanto, President Director of Pertamina Trans Kontinental, Mr I Gusti Ngurah from Pertamina Shipping and Mr Mr Mamoru Matsuo of NKK Indonesia.
Kicking off the ceremony proceedings, Senior General Manager of PaxOcean Batam Mr Tom Chua reaffirmed that the vessel is expected to be delivered ahead of schedule while President Director of NKK Indonesia Mr Mamoru Matsuo delivered his congratulatory message to both owner and builder and expressed his hopes of a successful completion. Last but not least, President Director of Pertamina Trans Kontinental Mr Subagjo H.
Moeljanto shared of future newbuilding projects in the pipeline.
The event was capped off with prayers by an imam before the vessel was successfully launched into the water. Respecting the customs of the Ramadan period, the launch celebration was held in the night after the breaking of fast at sunset.
The vessel was named “Transko Arafura” earlier in the year and will be chartered by Pertamina Shipping for work in Indonesia when she is delivered to owners. Transko Arafura is a 3,500 long ton product oil tanker of 90m length, capable of carrying up to 3 different grades of product oil in one cargo shipment. With a double bottom structure, the tanker is constructed with ten cargo tanks and two slop tanks. The vessel is equipped with Yanmar main engine and generators, Scanjet tank cleaning equipment, cargo pumps from Wartsila and deck machinery from MacGregor.
Construction of “Transko Arafura” started on 22 May 2015 on the first cut of steel and is expected to be delivered in September 2016.
